An interesting Boer War swagger cane with hand-carved writing spiralling around the shaft that reads "Sergt. A. I. Farey. 3rd Northd. Fusiliers [illegible] 1902" - the 3rd battalion of the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers was formed in Ferbruary 1900 during the war in South Africa, and in 1902 some of the men were stationed in Antigua to guard Boer prisoners of war placed there - the 3rd batallion was disbanded in 1907
