SOLD - Spanish gold and diamond handled cane

An exceptional sateen finished gold-handled cane with a royal connection - believed to have belonged to Francisco de Asís, Duke of Cádiz (1822 - 1902), the king consort of Queen Isabella II of Spain - the cane handle is richly and deeply engraved in high relief, with two enamel panels - on one side the coat of arms of Spain, on the other the coat of arms of the city of Ferrol (situated above the insignia of a General with two command sticks under two four-pointed stars below the Royal Crown) - the handle is inlaid with diamonds around the rim and the top is inlaid with the diamond initials "F A" - the entire handle unscrews and is mounted directly onto a fine snakewood shaft
