A fine historical coconut "Bug Bear" - finely carved overall in a panel design - the main panel featuring a regimental coat of arms with the Imperial Crown between palm leaves, inscribed "G. HAYWOOD XIX REGT." surrounded by thistles, roses and shamrocks, representing three countries of the UK - the next panel with a lady representing "HOPE" by an anchor, next to "A COCOA NUT TREE" and a small sailing ship, with a larger image of an infantryman to the side, proclaiming "WHERE E'RE FROM WHATEVER PLACE I SEE I'LL ALWAYS THINK WITH GRATITUDE OF THEE" - the final panel depicting two grass-skirted ladies on pedestals on either side of a stylised heart pierced by Cupid's arrow beneath the words "PEACE & LIBERTY" - the base with finely hatched geometric designs - the face atop with flat metal discs as eyes and a metal mouthpiece with a heavy metal bung with a carved top - the bugbear and bung with inset metal rings, suspended from an unusual beaded harness (the cord replaced)
