A 19th Century Arab saif - with a broad, curved fullered blade double-edged at the point and the forte etched with stars on each side - the silver hilt comprising a faceted quillon-block with double langets and lobed quillon terminals, and a grip chased with foliate borders and rising to a beaked pommel, the latter set with a filigree roundel on each side - the original, fabric-covered wooden scabbard is bound with silver ribbon and has silver mounts en suite with the hilt, including a circular suspension mount pierced with a star on one side and carrying two suspension rings
